Researching Connecticut Ancestors February 20, 2016

Sperry Light House New Haven Ct This is not the image I’m looking for but at least it’s an image for New Haven.  The image I want is a map of Old Connecticut.  The computer tells me that file cannot be uploaded.  I’ll investigate tomorrow.  I get that message too often!  My tech support looked at the problem briefly a couple of weeks ago but so much else has been going on ……..  And now Tech Support has gone to southern California for a week of cycling – Bicycle Camp!!  Maybe he can think about it as he pedals along.

Armstrong Sperry 1897-1976

According to a website about Sereno C. Sperry, the secretary and treasurer of the Pond Lily Company of New Haven, the Sperry family is of Irish extraction and was founded in America by 2 brothers, Richard and Thomas Sperry, who came to the United States in the early part of the 17th century.  My 4X Great Grandmother Anna Sperry born in 1758 was the 2X Great Granddaughter of Richard.

The inscription in this copy of All Sail Set reads as follows:  “This book about a ship is inscribed to the memory of Captain Sereno Armstrong by his great-grandson.”

I conclude that I would be remotely related to Armstrong Sperry.
