This little bird (sparrow) is so beautiful. I just love the markings. I’m sorry that the cat has succeeded again. Mice o.k. – little birds no.

I spotted 2 Northern Flickers in our garden this morning. Exciting to have them reappear after an absence of a few months.
Arriving Home After School October 7, 2017
What do my grandsons do when they get home from school? Greet Fizz the cat and find a nourishing drink.
And Fizz is a handsome cat
meanwhile I went back to look more closely at this nest which I had seen on my way to meet the school bus. Somehow it was just lying on top of a bush – I wondered how it got there – was it knocked out of a nearby tree? Anyhow I was fascinated by the beauty of its construction.
See also the drinks mat I bought some time ago
This One Got Away October 6, 2017
The cat appeared with this bird in its jaws. She dropped the bird and then toyed with it. The bird played possum and eventually outwitted the cat and escaped minus a few feathers. So glad, she was beautiful.
Dearth Of Sparrows June 15, 2017
The flocks of sparrows – little brown birds – have been missing from my garden this year. But today I felt renewed hope as there was a sustained burst of small birds flying back and forth as I looked out the window bright and early. Had they just fledged? In any event, I won’t tell the cat.
A Big Black Bird On My Deck May 4, 2017
It’s misty this morning but the crow or raven is clearly visible! Kind of scary.
view from another window – the apple blossoms are just lovely
Colorful Birds February 23, 2017
A bird like this has been perched on a branch next door for about 5 minutes. I wonder if it’s a house finch. A relatively plain finch has stayed steadfastly nearby. I wonder if they are “friends”. Sometimes I wish I had a telephoto lens.
Carnage At The Front Door February 20, 2017
I opened the front door and found lots of feathers but no carcass – I think (hope) the unfortunate bird got away unscathed.
The villain in the piece is of course Katerina.
p.s. oops I wrote too soon. I just looked out the back door. a beautiful bird – alas. A Finch?
A Raccoon Ran……. February 19, 2017

This morning I caught a glimpse of a raccoon running across my neighbor’s back yard and disappearing into some “things” piled up near his garage. The raccoon was bigger than a fat cat.
That’s the excitement so far this morning in the view from my seat at my computer. It topped the sight of 2 flickers and several finches on my deck railing.
