My current reading is pretty heavy going …….but readable enough to keep me going. Now to identify which of my ancestors lived during the turbulent reigns of the Plantagenets in the 13th and 14th centuries.
The following is an inscription found in the graveyard of this church
“Say, knyght, dawter to Lawrence Cheyne, esqwyr, of Cambridge shyre. A woman of nobyl blode, and most nobyl in grace and mannors. She dyed xxv Septemb. M.ccc.lxxiii, and was enterryed in this parysh church, abyding the body of her said husband; whos sowls God bring to everlastyng lyff.”

Henry VII, first in the Tudor line
In connection with my genealogy research, I’ve been reading a lot of history, both American and English. I’m contemplating documenting a number of my ancestors in more detail, particularly those who lived in the 16th century. The Tudor period stretched from 1485 with the crowning of Henry VII to 1603, the death of Elizabeth I. A momentous century in English history.
